As it’s the official day of llluurrrrvvveeee we reviewed Baz Luhrmann’s cult classic - Romeo + Juliet. Will it be as beautiful as Leo DiCaprio’s face or as mundane as Claire Danes’ acting?

Geek Chic reviews a childhood cult classic - Drop Dead Fred. Will it be a pile of s**t (as Lizzie would affectionately say) or will it be even more awesome then Rik Mayall’s hair?

A young boy is struck deaf, dumb and blind by a childhood trauma but eventually gets salvation by becoming a master pinball player and a religious cult figure.

The film told via non-stop musical numbers is wacky and bizarre from start to end - a rock-opera classic.

Tommy is played by The Who’s lead singer Roger Daltrey and he certainly isn’t the only big star to appear in the film.

Throughout his life Tommy meets an array of different wild and wonderful characters, such as the Acid Queen played by Tina Turner and Elton John who plays The Pinball Wizard himself…

2012 looks set to be an AWESOME year with heaps of cool things coming our way over the next 12 months. Here’s what the Geek Chic team are getting the most excited about…

The Hobbit: Lord of the Rings fans have waited v. patiently for years for this film to come out and in 2012 the wait will FINALLY be over.

Tomb Raider: It may not have a set release date yet, but we’re really looking forward to the new Tomb Raider game which goes back to the early days when Lara Croft began her first adventure.

iPhone 5: It’s looking like the iPhone 5 that people were expecting last October will finally be in the shops sometime in summer this year…

All this week we will be bringing you girlies our own Geeky and Chicy best of 2011 awards. From Hottie of the year to best Superhero film with a few GC special awards thrown in there too.

2011 was THE year of the EPIC superhero film and after a few heated discussions/arguments and perhaps a bit too long discussing how much Green Hornet sucked we finally whittled it down to our top three films of the year.

The nominees for the Geek Chic Superhero Film of the Year award are…

Captain America: The First Avenger

Surely Peggy Carter’s 1940’s pin-up inspired look is reason enough for Captain America to get nominated? But with an OMG WTF?! ending, evil bast**ds getting their comeuppance and of course Chris Evans’ – no not the ginger one – buff body, CA: TFA was so much more than a pair of perfectly painted red lips…

When I say Catwoman who do you think of?

The Brigitte Bardot-esque babe from the 1960’s TV show? Perhaps blonde bombshell Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns?

Maybe it’s the purple-suit clad Catwoman from the comics or even the mess that was Halle Berry in the Catwoman film itself?

Well it’s safe to say that Catwoman has gone through quite a lot of looks from her very first appearance in Batman #1way back in 1940…

Imagine the Three Wise Men without that one who brought the frankincense or Charlie’s Angels without Farrah Fawcett.

And just imagine the famous Hogwarts threesome withoutRon Weasley, it wouldn’t be right would it? – well that nearly happened!

JK Rowling has revealed that she came extremely close to killing off the cheeky, ginger haired BFF sometime during the Harry Potter series out of sheer spite…

Every week Geek Chic will bring you our hottest buy of the week.

If you asked my friends what Hogwarts house I would be in they would say Hufflepuff – because they are mean like that.

When Pottermore quizzed me they put me into Ravenclaw which came as a surprise because I am so incredibly dumb.

If you asked my haterz they would say Slytherin as they all think I’m evil.

But f**k them all – I’M A GRYFFINDOR THROUGH AND THROUGH!

So during one of my hourly hunts through Forbidden Planet I came across EXACTLY want I needed for this cold weather – a red and yellow striped Gryffindor scarf!..
